I admit it. I am jealous that MTV has a pool table and massage chairs in their lunch room...In fact, I'm jealous that they have a lunch room, one with a patio overlooking Times Square, no less.
Oh, the Flatiron is in a much MUCH better neighborhood. No doubt. I'd hate to work anywhere above 23rd street. But having someplace to eat that is a) not your desk, and b) doesn't cost a fortune is nice.
Years ago our higher-ups decided to put in a smoking room and that made me livid. Nothing against smokers but the message was basically: Let's make a room so smokers don't leave the building -- Let's NOT make a lunch room so that everyone stays at their desks and keeps working.
Sorry to hear you don't have a place to eat besides your work area.. That's pretty weak of the higher-ups. I'm curious though, how did you find this out about Mtv? haha.. were you a guest on TRL? ;)
True, sitting in your office to eat lunch is the pits. But so is eating your lunch in an office lunchroom. You need to get AWAY from work during your lunch - eat someplace non-work related. Relax. Blank your mind & think of nothing. People watch. Join a friend for lunch. Window-shop - thereby walking and getting some exercise.
Lunchtime is breaktime, with or without an actual lunch, as you choose.
But if you worked for MTV you would have to hang with all of those self absorbed musicians instead of cool, fun science fiction/fantasy artists! ;)
ReplyDeleteHuh. I suppose envy is subject to relativity. Because, I'm envious of your view.

ReplyDeleteYeah, a Tor lunchroom would be pretty sweet, although the new Flatiron Beach ain't half bad (and there's WiFi). At least for the fall. . . .
