I've been illustrating Conan rpg books for the last few years and one of the biggest challenges is living in the shadows of the great artists and still trying to find your own voice.Chris Quilliamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07638766199294186409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30983073.post-36520813785098254482007-12-08T21:19:00.000-05:002007-12-08T21:19:00.000-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Chris Quilliamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07638766199294186409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30983073.post-62323065265247200922007-12-08T18:08:00.000-05:002007-12-08T18:08:00.000-05:00Tracy: "I have to say the Manchess does the best C...Tracy: "I have to say the Manchess does the best Conan since Frazetta."

Greg was thrilled to hear you say that!

It has to be rough, going into a project that is so well defined already -- I think Greg tried to draw from the REH's writing and attempted, as much as anyone can, that all the existing Conan imagery never happened. It's been very well received by some hardcore Conan fans so he must of touched on something of Howard's words.Irene Gallohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15440976373621593153noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30983073.post-65957317685724794722007-12-08T11:55:00.000-05:002007-12-08T11:55:00.000-05:00My husband is a member of the Rob't E. Not only was the art stunning with it's stark beauty, but Howard's writing style is often poetic & certainly evocative.Lana Gramlichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06975996208260144558noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30983073.post-9888908522468228362007-12-07T18:56:00.000-05:002007-12-07T18:56:00.000-05:00Been a Conan and REH fan fo 30 years now, and he s...Been a Conan and REH fan fo 30 years now, and he seems to be getting stronger even if some of the newer stories are really weak. I had never read anything he had written and had many preconceived ideas about what Conan would be like, probably because of the Arnie movies. Boy was I blown away! It was nothing like I expected. I found the stories to be rich and lush. Conan, rather than an ignorant 'barbarian' was a smart, well spoken and interesting character. And the world that Howard created...wow! He was amazing. This month marks the 75th anniverary of the first published Conan adventure and I have a couple more of the short stories unread and saved just to savor this month.

That Conan the Phenomenon book is one I simply HAVE to pick up. I've done a few very long posts about the author and his creation in the past as I have become a huge fan over the past two years. I got a chance to thumb through a copy of that book and it looks...well, phenomenal!Carl V. All these fantasy paperbacks and great artists made me start oil painting very recently. I really appreciated the video with Donato Giancola, Dan Dos Santos and you.
So, hello from Paris, France !

Cedric
http://cedricmnich.wordpress.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
