Spring

Yay! It’s finally Spring here in New York. You can tell from the sprouting of metal trees and electronic bird songs in Madison Square Park. Backdrop: the Flatiron building where Tor lives.

Hi Jack, Carl,
I have to admit, it’s pretty great being in the Flatiron. For one thing, most everyone has at least one window in their office. There aren’t many drab cubicle spaces. I also love that, because of the triangular footprint, so many offices are weird trapezoid shapes - but maybe that’s just me. Unfortunately the inside is full of drop ceilings and others crimes against architecture...but, where the ceilings are restored to their proper height, it’s breathtaking. (Although, I have known people that are afraid of heights not being able to stand in the nose end of the building.)

Yeah, but your office has the cool paint job... :)

Sad but true story: I painted it twice in one week. I got some cheap off-white -- to cover the extreme eye-strain white that the rest of the building is painted — but when I finished it had a pee-green tint to it. I ran out that night and got better paint. Yes, I really need to get a life.

I’ll tease you, Daniel, I saw an almost finished version of AUTUMN is it’s THE coolest thing. I can’t wait to get the final and show you.

I've always thought that building needed a big gargoyle on the front. And why has the Flatiron never been the target of a giant ape or a flying saucer? . . . I mean in a movie of course.

Hey Tom,

Godzilla did topple us down in the 90s remake and the Flatiron is the home of the newspaper in Spiderman - so I guess we have our 15 minutes of movie fame.
