Rick Berry

Rick Berry is working on a new Judy Tarr book cover for us. He just sent a really nice sketch in and it reminded me of receiving these sketches for Queen of the Amazons a few years back. I remember getting very excited right at the beginning when Rick said something like, “I’ve been thinking about Leon Baskt.”

I've liked Berry's work for a long time. If memory serves he is one of the first digital artists I 'discovered' when I started looking for art on the internet.

I love his recent cover for The Game by Diana Wynne Jones, it is fabulous.

Hi Carl,

Rick is credited with the first digital painting for a book cover -- Neromancer. He's got an interesting story on how he did it without actually owning a computer. If you are ever at a convention with Rick, you should ask him about it.

He's been focusing on gallery painting these past bunch of years. It's been great watching that evolve from afar. But it is always gratifying to see his illustration work pop up. It's all good.
