Stephan Martiniere’s latest for Tor — the cover to Jay Lake’s Mainspring, due out next summer. I’ve long said that Stephan is one of the most exciting digital artists working in the field. He uses digital in a way that is truly unique to the medium rather than using it to mimic traditional mediums. Few can create a entire world within the confines of an 5x8 book cover the way Stephan can.
Update: Jay Lake’s LJ post about the art here.

That is a super-cool cover. I love it.
i really like this painting....
Thanks, Jay and Sonja. Can't really go wrong with Stephan...but I _do_ like this even more than usual.
Hi Robert - nice to see you here!
Airships! Jay Lake! *runs around doing the happy dance*. One of the things I loved about Sky People was the Zeplins.
What an incredibly beautiful cover. This is one of the rare ones I'm going to say is possibly spoiled by being on something as small as a book cover. I looked through Martiniere’s site and couldn't find it as a print.
This allways happens when I find something I want on my walls on this site :-(
Hey Josh,
I bet Stephan will be making prints of this...it's just too new to have up yet. I assume he has a contact on his site? If so, send him an email about it.
I may need to get one myself. I'm out at my mom's house right now and one of the first things she asked me was about was getting a better look at this piece.
