my donor card

A recent Twitter friend's tweet made me think it's not a bad idea to say: My donor card was signed in honor of Jenna Felice. Whose yours signed for?

We don't have an option of signing our donor card in honour of someone. However, both mine & hubby's driver licenses are marked "donors."

Good for you!

I may have overstated the "in honor of part" It's not signed as such, butJenna's passing inspired me to get the card.

When I was a teenager, a woman named Diane Hebert was in the Quebec news. She raised awareness about organ donation due to her appeal for organ donors. She had her transplant in 1985. She dies last year, but she lived over 20 years and she got to see her daughter grow up.

I was 14 when I signed my card with my parents' consent. I continue to do so and signed my renewed card again in the summer. It is directly due to her spreading the word.

It took me until the age of 35 to learn about bone marrow donation. I am a registered donor in honour of my brother. I did not match him, but I might match someone else.
