CgChannel has a interview with the storyboard artist, and amazing drawer, Dan Milligan. Among other things, Dan is helping to bring Pern and Frank Miller's 300 to the big screen. He's also teaching a Gnomon workshop in Los Angeles in December.

Irene, do have any idea about the status of the Pern movie ? Is it a go or are they still pursing financing ?
I'd LOVE to see this done well. It's right up there in the favorite film choices for me. Not that I've gotten over the shelving of John Carter of Mars, I'm still choked about that one. Hopefully someday - Jeff Doten
I saw this concept, briefly, when it got posted on the ConceptArt.org forum; it was gone by that afternoon. After I did a search, I found out that some folks on a Pern fansite (http://forums.srellim.org/index.php) had also seen the pictures before they were taken down and saved them.
They looked like interesting concepts, with poses for Pern dragon scenarios, although that particular info wasn't posted. The artist had stated that he was unfamiliar with drawing dragons and wanted some feedback and that these were concepts for a tv series or film. My comment at that time was "those aren't McCaffrey dragons, not with those horns and scales".
I hadn't heard of a Pern movie at all - that would be fantastic. But I just wanted to thank you Ms. Gallo for posting the Q&A it was really nice to read it and I learned quite a bit!
A PERN MOVIE!!!!!!!! That would be beyond words!!!!!! They should SOOOO do that!!!!
