We did the same at the Cape about two weeks ago. Went to say goodbye to the summer and sat on a lovely, white sand, windy beach-sans tourists and, now free off-season parking. Watched a sunset on one side of the Cape and then the sun rise on the other side. Even the water was "warm" once you got used to it. I will have some paintings I did there, up on my blog in a day or so.
Put a big, red lighthouse on a pier just beyond the bird, and add a couple hundred seagulls, and it's just like the Lake Michigan beach about 2 minutes from my office. And how many times did I go "down there" this summer??! And have I ever painted there??!! Thanks for making me mindful of it.

You know, I really like this kind of post - as jealous as it makes me.
You know, it's like winter here now. Makes me jealous too but it's a lovely photo.

I can almost smell the beach...It's been far too long...
American beaches are so much nicer than British ones!
